The recent rule changes to Google places could affect your business
Google have recently adjusted their Google places rules. The official Google places guide lines were updated with the following :
If you don’t receive customers at your location, you must select the “Do not show my business address on my Maps listing” option within your dashboard. If you don’t hide your address, your listing may be removed from Google Maps.
Now many businesses will certainly be affected by this update, but Google haven't exactly been proactive about voicing this.
If your not sure whether your business should be listed read the below points and you should be able to work out if your business address needs to be hidden.
.If your business is an actual building that customers come in and out of then you don't need to worry about hiding your address from the maps. This is the type of business's that Google wants on its map listings.
.If your business is run from home but you still have customers walk in or visit regularly then your ok to list your business address on the map listing.
.If your business is run from your home and you do not receive regular visits from customers at your home then you need to hide your address from the map listings.
I hope that this post has helped anyone who was confused by the recent Google maps update. Its definitely not a good idea to just ignore this update so check that your business is listed correctly or you risk being penalised by Google.
